Policy Gaps and Practices on Genetic Diversity, The Heterogenous and Localized Evolutionary Population as well as Native Landraces in Agriculture of Nepal

چکیده
Formal breeding strategies and processes focus on developing uniform non-evolutionary populations. However, many farmers continue to cultivate heterogenous cultivars To understand the recognition of genetic diversity (heterogenous populations) in policies fields, a literature survey along with field survey, interaction action research were carried out 15 districts Nepal. Existing demand varieties go through DUS (distinctness, uniformity, stability) testing be registered National Seed Board (NSB) for commercial production sale. This means all native landraces other broad genetic-based genotypes cannot marketed without registration. A formal agriculture system accelerates cultivation single genotype large area, leading lack pollinators loss diversities.
Legal agricultural systems have focused mainly modernizing exotic resources, giving less priority making technologies globally competitive. In contrast, informal seed deals polymorphic evolutionary Therefore, should consider that favor increase diversity, population, site-specific staple food, self-seed system, ecological services, insects/birds/ microorganism-friendly systems, etc. Native resources (AGRs) bases are essential nutrition, health, environment, business security. six components agrobiodiversity (namely crops, forages, livestock, aquatic insects, microorganisms) receive research, development, extension, education. Additionally, favorable policy commercialization such and/ or their products registration established. Alternatively, developed base
